Atamira is proud to announce that Louise Pōtiki Bryant's new work Ka Tiri o te Moana will journey to Te Waipounamu this October to present as part of the Adaptation Futures 2025 climate change conference.

Atamira Dance Company presents a groundbreaking collaboration between Arts Foundation Laureate Louise Pōtiki Bryant, acclaimed composer Paddy Free, scenographic artist Rowan Pierce and lighting designer Robert Larsen.

Choreographed by Pōtiki Bryant, Ka Tiri o te Moana is both live performance and installation exploring Kāi Tahu relationships with Te Moana Tāpokopoko a Tāwhaki - the Southern Ocean and Ka Tiri o te Moana - Antarctica.

Destination Earth

Atamira Dance Company have been invited to embody the live activation of Destination Earth’s first Aotearoa NZ presentation, with dance artists Olivia McGregor, Jeremy Beck, and Matiu Hamuera.

Destination Earth is a multi-sensory interactive art installation that reveals the vital connections between ocean, atmosphere, and human activity. Dive into the flows of the Southern Ocean and explore the pulse of the Antarctic circumpolar current as it responds to our rhythm of motion.

Join Atamira dance artists Madi Tumataroa and Tai Hemana as they guide you on a journey through Toi o Tāmaki | Auckland Art Gallery’s exhibition Taimoana | Coastlines. This workshop invites tamariki to explore the exhibition through movement, play, and imagination. We’ll journey past mighty motu, glide through the moana like waka, and twist and stretch like giant wheke. Nau mai, piri mai, Saturday 11 October (10:30am & 12:10pm).

Over four weeks, with two choreographers in residence and two sharings, Kia Pohewatia has held space for experimentation, discovery, and exchange. Kua Rangatira a Atamira i a kōrua ko Rachel, ko Samara!

He mihi anō ki ngā kaikanikani (Madi, Liv, Toalei and Matiu), secondee Te Atawhai, mentor Charles Koroneho, taonga pūoro artist Salvador Brown and not to forget the pēpi and kurī who blessed the residency with daily joy.

In the spirit of Kōanga, the season of new growth, these seeds of working methodologies, play, and inspiration are now sown 🌱

Atamira returned to the Due Drop Event Centre for Kori Pūrākau, our biannual workshop programme held on 26–28 May 2025. Over three inspiring days, students explored the choreography and storytelling through dance and movement. Ngā mihi to all the incredible tauira who brought their energy, creativity, and wairua to the space – we loved moving with you!
