An intensive Masterclass series in dance technique, choreographic exploration, repertoire and tikanga practise, Atamira style. We invite registrations from international and Aotearoa/New Zealand based practicing dancers, choreographers, students and teachers.
The classes will be tailored to individual needs and are designed to be challenging and push your current skills as a dance practitioner.
Each day will include dance technique, followed by the teaching of defined choreographic practices stimulating choreographic exploration. Interwoven with indigenous practices of tikanga/protocol and manaki/support.
The masterclass series will culminate in an open floor where participants are invited to share with each other their experience and learning from the week through open discussion and or performance followed by hakari/feast to refuel the body as much as the soul.
The Masterclass series is designed to transfer knowledge to communities.
A varied programme of technique classes, and choreographic workshops will be delivered by a selection of Atamira senior and emerging artists.
2017 Masterclass series will run the week of the 9th of October, final dates and details to be announced soon.
